Computers for Kids Program

The North East Texas Wireless Initiative is happy to provide several refurbished PC's to be distributed to economically disadvantaged kids in the Queen City/Atlanta area. Special thanks to:

• Queen City Independent School District
• Queen City Police Department "SantaCops" Program
• Domestic Violence Prevention Center
• KNCB Radio

for thier assistance in identifying and distributing the PC's to kids in the Ark-La-Tex area. The goal of the Computers for Kids Program is to assist and enhance technology education for local kids who might not otherwise have the opportunity to work with personal computers and emerging technologies such as the NETWI Mesh Network.

NETWORK SEGMENTATION

NETWORK SEGMENTATION
Network segmentation completed. New channel 11 signal is now visible in apporximately 40% of the City of Atlanta. Initial tests indicate improved performance across the network.

NETWORK CONFIGURATION

SSID: NETWIPhase IINETWORK CONFIGURATIONBandwidth shaping tests are going extremely well. GUEST access still available in various places across the network. Guest access is still set at 64Kb. We will be throttling Member Access up to 256k on 12/4-12/5. Users of the network will continue to experience short term outages while the network is "rebooted". SBC failed to meet the install date at server "Prometheus", therefore network segmentation has been delayed until installation is complete.

Bandwidth shaping is underway. GUEST access currently available in various places across the network. Guest access is set at 64Kb. While testing, Members access is set to 128Kb.
